Clubhouse Improvement Project – from 2005

There is a need for bigger and better accommodation for a club that has expanded hugely (in numbers and activities) over the years. The addition in the mid eighties is no longer adequate. The departure of Old Epsomians from the Southern end has left DRFC as the sole Rugby user. The clubhouse and facilities need to accommodate not only where we have a need today but where we want to be in the future.

Where we want to be in the future is the question that we need to confirm as a Club and dictates the extent to which DRFC improves its facilities, however in terms of the envisaged development plan, the Clubhouse and facilities are assumed to cater :

·        To provide quality changing areas for all Senior (M/F) and Junior (M/F) teams;

·        To become recognised as a club that is able to host representative rugby games;

·        To provide facilities that can serve the whole community. As one of the most attractive venues in Mole Valley (with resultant income potential), the clubhouse will cater for a wider participation with throughput of the club on a 7 days a week basis.

The facilities need to accommodate:

Essential:

·        6 RFU approved changing rooms, able to cater for complete segregation  for Girls / Ladies;

·        North & South wooden clad ‘wings’ to be replaced, attached to or renovated;

·        New boilers;

·        Floodlights for 2 pitches;

·        Pitch improvement (level and drain);

The Plans also incorporate:

·        A Southern Entrance, with ‘lobby’ area, including ‘family’W.C’s;

·        Shop in ‘lobby’ area;

·        Gym (with M/F showering);

·        Stairs to clubroom;

·        Larger club areas (upstairs bar and another ‘snug’);

·        Improved kitchen area;

·        Balcony / podium;

·        Lift for disabled;

·        Storage.

Considerations:

This can only be done in stages to encourage easier fund raising but with minimum cost inefficiencies, for example:

A.                 Pitch levelling and floodlights (pitch 1)

B.                 North end changing rooms and kitchen etc

C.                 South end entrance and Lobby

D.                 South end bar/gym/WC’s to tie in with Lobby

E.                  Car park with hard area for other sports.

F.                  Floodlights – pitch 2
